In a Rut? Play, Experiment, Create and Discover

In a Rut? Get Out of the Box! Play, Experiment, Create and Discover

Feeling stuck in your work? Ready to break old habits and discover new possibilities? This workshop invites you to play, experiment, and reconnect with your creative instincts.

Using exercises inspired by artist’s, through collage, mixed media, and intuitive mark making we will explore value, color, composition, and space while moving from drawing to painting. These exercises are designed to loosen habits and encourage risk taking. College will serve as a tool for generating fresh ideas and unexpected compositions that can be incorporated into or developed into finished paintings.

Working with watercolor, gouache, acrylic, drawing materials, collage, and other media, you'll build rich surfaces through layering, transparency, opacity, and playful exploration. Daily exercises, demonstrations, discussions, and constructive critiques will encourage risk-taking, creative problem-solving, and new ways of seeing.

Whether you work in landscape, still life, figurative, or abstract forms, this workshop is designed to spark imagination, push your work in new directions, and remind you that creativity begins with play.

Bring your favorite materials, an open mind, and your inner child. Let's get out of the box and create.
